Shannon Davis Johnston is obsessed – “No, passionate!” she laughs – about organizing interior spaces. As far back as she can recall, she wanted to be an interior designer. Her eye for design and order was evident even when she was a child: She often sketched floor plans of her clients’ homes while babysitting and spent her earnings on organizational items for her bedroom, where she regularly rearranged the furniture to better suit the space. Shannon spent Sunday nights watching ‘This Old House’ and playing architect and designer with her brother, using her grandfather’s vintage cast-iron drafting table as inspiration.

Shannon’s inherent talent and enthusiasm for creating beautiful, functional design solutions for homeowners isn’t all this designer offers. She also brings a wealth of experience and credentials to every project: an interior design degree from the International Academy of Merchandising and Design, Certified Kitchen Designer accreditation, a specialization in custom cabinetry, and 20-plus years of experience in multiple design arenas, including working with some of the most renowned names in cabinetry.

But she’s not just any kitchen designer. For one, Shannon isn’t committed to just one product line, which means she can work with a range of clients and still accommodate individual styles, needs and budgets. Her overarching goal is to strike just the right balance of beauty and functionality with every space she creates. “Kitchen design is useless if it just looks pretty,” Shannon stresses. “It has to function properly, too.”

From the city to the suburbs (and even a few from out of state), Shannon’s clients rave about her ability to achieve that balance, along with her personable, collaborative style that accommodates a range of clientele. “She is a pleasure to work with and does a good job of pointing out the pros and cons of various options, but the ultimate decision is always yours,” says one homeowner. “She is meticulous, creative and reliable, and she designed us a great kitchen,” another remarks. “We really couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out, and we’re so glad we chose Shannon.”

To enhance her focus on custom cabinetry, Shannon closely collaborates with other interior designers, contractors, architects and tradespeople in the design and installation of the new space. These professionals view her as a critical partner who helps them work more efficiently and cost-effectively. She can also help realtors and home buyers envision design possibilities whether they are looking to buy or preparing to sell.

When Shannon is not designing amazing new spaces for her clients, she can be found shuffling her boys between soccer, hockey, cross country and basketball, dreaming of her next travel adventure, practicing her volley on the tennis court, or throwing her dog a frisbee at the beach.
